Once you have scanned the QR code the presented ID number within your chosen authenticator app will refresh every 30 seconds.
If when you enter your code you receive the above please remain on your authenticator app and try the next available code that is presented.
If this does not resolve your issue you may need to check that your authenticator app is in-sync with the official time.
If your phone's time is out of sync or if you have changed time zones, the best way to fix is to change the time settings on your phone from 'Manual' to 'Automatic'. If already set to 'Automatic' toggle it off and on to re-sync the app.
Other helpful tips:
- Ensure you are scanning the QR code within your authenticator app - it will not work when scanned directly with your smartphone's camera.
- When adding an account to your authenticator app, you may be prompted to specify what kind of account you are adding, e.g. work, school or other. Please select 'other'.
- Please note, you do need to sign into your authenticator app using an email address. You should instead be able to add an account simply by clicking the '+' in the corner of your authenticator app, and when prompted to specify what kind of account you are adding, selecting 'other'. This should then open your smartphone's camera, allowing you to scan the QR code or to manually enter the account label and shared secret.
